Cricut Beginners NEED to know how to use fonts in Cricut Design Space.

You will find here a very basic explanation of how to use fonts in Cricut Design Space.

I have made a video showing all the basics to get you started, but I also wrote them all out. Not that long ago I lived in the country and couldn’t watch videos, so I loved it when bloggers would do both.

How to Use Fonts in Cricut Design Space – The Video

For all of you with the ability to watch videos, please enjoy this video tutorial about how to use fonts in Cricut Design.

How to Use Fonts in Cricut Design – The Basics

For all my country people with not enough internet to watch videos, please enjoy the tutorial with pictures below.

First log into your Design Space. Once you are there make sure you are on a new Canvas, ready to create.

Learn the basics of how to use fonts in Cricut Design Space. Fast and easy.

If Cricut Design Space opens to the home page for you, just click on New Project and then you will be on a new canvas.

Now look on the left hand side of the screen and it is as simple as clicking on the “T” on the far left hand side of the Canvas page (look at picture above). That will open a text box.

Type into the text box in Cricut Design Space what you want to write. I wrote Addicted to Cricut, but you can write anything.

Your text will automatically show up on the Cricut Design Space canvas.

If you don’t like it or want to add or take away text, click on the text again and the text box will pop back up. Edit there and then hit enter. How does that look? Happy?

Great! Let’s work on the font now.

How To Change Font in Cricut Design Space

Learn how to change fonts in Cricut Design Space. Cricut beginners will want to know this.

To learn how to change the font in Cricut Design Space, just click on the text you want to change to a different font. When the font is clicked or highlighted, a new tool box opens up on the top.

Looks to the left in that box for the word “Font” (look at picture above).  Click on it and a box pulls down.

At the top right of that pull down box there are a few choices.; All – System – Cricut. If you are a member of Cricut Access, then All is where you want to be. You will find any fonts that you have uploaded to your computer as well as any fonts the Cricut has available to members. If you aren’t sure what Cricut Access is, please check out my blog post,  “Is Cricut Access Worth It? Why I Decided To Join Cricut Access”.

If you don’t have Cricut Access, then System is where you want to be. There you will find all the fonts you have uploaded to your computer.

If you only want to see fonts available in Cricut Access, then Cricut is where you want to be.

Once you have figured out which one to choose, then go through the fonts on the pull down till you find one you like. You can do this as often as you like.

If you already know the name of the font you want to use, you can type the name in the Search Fonts area (look at picture above) and it will pull it up for you really fast. I use this feature a lot since I seem to use the same fonts over and over again.

Now that you have your font chosen, let’s change the size.

How to Change Font Size on Cricut Design Space

Now that you have a pretty font chosen, let’s resize the text for your project.

The Cricut Design Space canvas has a one inch grid on it. That helps us to measure our projects and know how large to make text and images.

To change the font size click on your text.  On the bottom right hand corner is a blue circle with an arrow in it. Click on that, hold the click and move the text larger or smaller.

That was easy, right?

What if you want your text higher but not wider?

On the bottom left hand of your text, do you see the blue circle with the icon of a lock on it? Click on that. Now your text is unlocked.

If you look over at the bottom right hand corner again, the blue circle is now green with arrows in 4 directions. Go ahead and put your cursor on there and drag it down.

Now you have the ability to make your text taller and narrower or thinner and wider.

Learn how to change font size in Cricut Design Space for taller text. This will come in handy on your next project.

Some projects call for much taller text.

Play with it for awhile, you will love it. I use this feature all the time.

How To Curve Text In Cricut Design Space

This is a brand new feature that just came out, but we are all so thankful. This was the #1 thing people were asking Cricut to add to the Design Space.

It’s really, really, really easy.

Click on the text you want to curve, just like before when we were learning how to change the font, or the size in Cricut Design Space.

Now look at the tool box on top again. Just right of the middle of the tool box is one that has a curved arch looking icon. Below it is the work Curve. Click on that icon.

Learn how to curve text in Cricut Design Space. I am so excited they finally gave us this tool!

All you need to do now is move the black dot right or left and watch as it changes your font into curved font. Make it as little or as much curve as you want.

Figuring out how to curve text in Cricut Design Space is half the battle. Next you need to decide how much curve do you want.

Isn’t that awesome? I am so excited about this new feature.

I told you it was easy to learn how to use fonts in Cricut Design Space. Now you have a whole new world that just opened up to you.

Be sure to check out my post below that shows you how to upload fonts to your computer and then to Cricut Design Space.
